CV.

Mariusz Malinowski (S’99–M’03) received the M.Sc.E.E. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering (with awards) from the Institute of Control and Industrial Electronics, Warsaw University of Technology (WUT), Warsaw, Poland, in 1997 and 2001, respectively.
He is currently with the Institute of Control and Industrial Electronics, WUT. He was a Visiting Scholar at Aalborg University, Denmark (Danfoss Profesor Program), at the University of Nevada, Reno (NSF project „Control techniques for environment – friendly and energy-efficient power electronic converters”), at Technical University of Berlin, Germany (Kolumb Program of Foundation for Polish Science), and ETH Zurich, Switzerland (Center for Advanced Studies of Warsaw University of Technology). He was also Visiting Professor at Universidad Tecnica Federico Santa Marıa, Valparaıso (Chile), University of Cergy-Pontoise (France) and ENSEEIHT – Laplace, Toulouse (France).
He is an author of three patents, over 90 technical papers cited more than 800 times (index h=12 based on Scopus), and co-author of chapters in two books Control in Power Electronics (New York: Academic Press, 2002) and “Industrial Electronics Handbook” (Taylor & Francis Group – USA). His current research activities include control of grid connected PWM converters, renewable energy, multilevel converters, HVDC technique, modulation and DSP applications.
Dr. Malinowski received twice the Siemens Prize for his Ph.D. dissertation (66 citations) in 2002 and scientific team achievement in 2007, a WUT Rector Prize (2001, 2005, 2007, 2009) , a paper awards at the IECON’2000 („Simulation Study of Virtual Flux Based Direct Power Control for Three-Phase PWM Rectifiers”) and EPE-PEMC’2004 (“Active Filtering Function of Three-phase PWM Boost Rectifier”), a Polish Minister of Science and Higher Education Awards for contribution in book Control in Power Electronic (2003) and international research achievements (2008). His industry application received many awards and medals e.g. Exhibition of Innovations in Geneva (Gold Medal – 2006), Exhibition in Brussels “Eureco” (Bronze Medal – 2006). He is also a Scholar of the Foundation for Polish Science and member of Technical Reference Committee in Vestas Power Program.
He is member of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IES) and IEEE Power Electronics Society (PELS). He has served as a reviewer both for conferences and journals. He is active member of IEEE Poland Section as a Secretary (2001-2005), Membership Development Chair (2006-2009) and vice-chair of IES Polish Chapter (since 2008). Within the IES, he was responsible for student activity (2005-2009), AdCom member and chair of Power Electronics Converters sub-committee (2007-2009). He has been involved in 16 conferences organization as Technical Program Chair or Track Co-Chair. Mariusz Malinowski is associate editor of IEEE Transaction on Industrial Electronics and editor in chief of IEEE Industrial Electronics Magazine. He co-organized in 2010 very successful Special Section in IEEE Transaction on Industrial Electronics about Multilevel Converters.
